Dowd gets to make his own birthday cake. He uses bacon, sausage, ham, pancakes, eggs, biscuits, gravy, and 2 types of cheese to make the best creation ever known to man. Enjoyed by the Clemson Tailgaters before the Clemson - FSU game November 7, 2009.
That's right. Wahoo. We're cooking wahoo on Saturday. It's always fun when you can enjoy dining on the other team's mascot before you enjoy watching the Tigers destroy them in the Valley.
We'll also have some great veggies, sweet potato fries, grilled chicken, and hot wings.
Come help us enjoy the season finale of tailgating season as we get ready to cheer the Tigers on to their first ACC Atlantic Divison Title.
And PLEASE DONT FORGET TO VOTE! WE have 2 weeks left to win this thing. EVERY VOTE COUNTS!
The Clemson Tailgaters can be found every home game on the corner of Hwy 93 & Centennial Blvd.

Homecoming Home Cookin'

Been a few weeks since a site update - that UMD game just knocked me into a tailspin that would take a 2 game winning streak and road win over a top 10 Miami team to pull me out of. So...
Here we are. Man what a difference in the team, the attitude, and the vibe around TigerTown. And what better way to build on that mo with a homecoming tailgate extravaganza. We're thinking homemade burgers in a few diff flavors/styles would be a simple and tasty way to enjoy the pregame! If you've got a tasty burger recipe, please bring yours to share.
Being halloween the day's going to be crazy. A few of us "regulars" are going to need to check out early to do the trick or treating thing. We're asking ANYONE who can help with the breakdown of the tailgate to please stay and help out afterwards. Otherwise we'll have to take it down during halftime, and nobody wants to end the party early if folks want to stay.
Please let us know if you can stay, or can bring some good eats by posting in the forum, or just send an email to

The TCU Horned Frogs handed our Tigers the 2nd loss of the season but you can't say the Clemson Tailgaters didn't try and help. We cooked up a few dozen of their legs so it's amazing they were able to run around, especially in the rain.
Please don't forget we need your votes in the Bubba Keg tailgate contest. We work hard to make each Saturday fun and would appreciate your votes. We're in 3rd place and gaining, and we need to keep the leaders in our sights. Every vote counts. They told us you can vote once a month per email address. So if you/spouse/child/whatever each have an email address you can use each one to vote with, each month. If you have an old hotmail address, use it. If you have a business email, use it. They don't ask for personal info.
Please click here to vote in the NOVEMBER POLL, or you can click here to see our latest contest page updates. And a big thanks to everyone who's voted!
Here's a video from the TCU game showing food prep before the masses (and monsoon) arrive. You can also click here to see our latest contest page updates.

If we get the most votes, we get to tailgate at the BCS Championship Game in Pasadena!
This is a really fun contest and they've sent us some great tailgate toys. We're going to be uploading photos and videos of our tailgates to the contest site after every game. IF YOU TAKE PICTURES AT OUR TAILGATES, please

you wouldn't mind us putting on the contest site - and I'll do my best to get them loaded in. The more the better!
The Clemson Tailgaters are the proud Runners Up of the 2009 Bubba Keg National Competitive Tailgating Series. Originally selected as one of the top 14 tailgates in the country, we proved ourselves worthy of a 2nd place finish and can officially say we have the 2nd best tailgate in the Country!
Pig, chicken, sausage, homemade chicken salad and mac & cheese, and much much more gave the Clemson Tailgaters a huge victory in the 2009 Season Opener.
There's a few folks heading to Atlanta on Thursday, if you're heading down you can discuss plans in the forum.
MTSU is a 6pm game which means a full day of tailgating. Cliff and Dowd have purchased a cooker between them, and we'll be using it to cook a PIG for the Season Opener!
All the details and how you can help are being discussed in the forums. If you haven't registered yet you'll need to do that first in order to post.
Looking forward to 9/5. Go Tigers!!!

What a Great Year

As I sit here watching yesterday's game, which I started watching at noon in real time, I just wanted to thank everyone for a great year. So many people helped out in so many ways, from showing up early to put up tents, to bringing food, or sticking around after everyone else was gone to pack stuff up. Special thanks to the regular set-up gang-Brady, Dowd, Flake, Grappo, Bobby, Barnes and many others. Thanks to all of those who unselfishly shared their parking passes, especially Barnes and Tom.
From what I've heard, everyone continues to be happy with our new location. There was plenty of space for cooking and for the seemingly hundreds of kids to play. We were close to the Esso. We had nearby bathrooms with no lines, and we even had some shade. Hopefully, we will be able to keep these spots for the next few years.
Our food was good all year. We had Chili, Fryday, hotdogs, hamburgers, sausages, smoked chickens and even manged to get a pig in. I can't remember a season with so many early games, so we should have more late games in the future to cook even more things.
Our capital campaign was a succcess and we all appreciate the generosity of everyone who contributed. We now have a great TV, a new generator, and a new tent. As we close out this year's books, we should have a some money left over and we will use it to buy some more things-maybe another big tent or a big misting fan for the hot games.
Again, we had a great year, and it is a testament to the hard work of so many people that we are and will continue to be the ACC Tailgating Champions!!

Here, Piggy Piggy

Well yet another noon game is upon us. Suprise, suprise. However the Clemson Tailgaters will not be thwarted from cooking at least ONE pig this season. So that is the plan. Tentative plan is to start her up at Grappo's Friday night and have her done by the time the lot opens Saturday morning. Then we'll just heat her back up and serve before gametime.
There's going to be plenty of food both before AND after the game. This is our LAST tailgate of the season, and traffic is going to be insane. So make plans to hang out after the Chickin Kickin and enjoy our last Saturday in Tiger Town watching all the shmucks stuck in traffic trying to leave right after the game.
I'm making sauce, and Cliff and Grappo are heading up the overnight cooking crew. Anyone interested in helping out let us know!

It's gonna be chili

Ladies and Gentlemen prepare yourselves for the best chili you've ever tasted. Homecoming 2008 features "chili for 50" and was lovingly prepared on Cliffy's back porch with big pots and a boat paddle.
It's gonna rain, so be prepared for that too.

A New Era
Wednesday, 15 October 2008 10:15
I cannot tell you how excited I now am about this weekend. Not that I really wasn't before, but the new life in the program is electric and very contagious. And we are going to have a FANTASTIC tailgate to celebrate.
This weekend's Fry-A-Thon will be one to remember. We are discussing the details in the forum so feel free to add anything you want (or want to bring) to drop in the oil.
